The father of my mother is a German soldier. My mother has never met him. My grandmother died before she had a chance to tell my mother who her father was. My mother was only seven when her mother died. The fact, that my mother has never found out who her father is, has affected her life a lot. Growing up without a father has left an everlasting feeling of emptiness and a longing for a father. I started working with subjective memories and experiences that children of German soldiers have of their father or their lack of a father. With photographs, I aim to create a point where the present and the past meet.
